Road measurements
IDbike has a lot of experience with regard to measurements on riding bicycles
Measurement example
For a customer IDbike has measured the damping of different bicycles on the road
The vibration levels on a bike was dependent of:
- The suspension system
- The type of tire
- The tire pressure
- The road quality
The graph displays the results of a vibration measurement with a bicycle with ATB tires on 3 different types of road:
- A smooth asphalt road
- A rough asphalt road
- A cobble stone road
On the horizontal axle the frequency of the vibration is displayed, from 0 to 100 Hz. The vertical axle displays the vibration level.
The differences in vibration level are clearly, especially of the frequencies between 10 and 40 Hz. These are about the frequencies for which the human body is the most sensitive.
The data acquisition system also enables the bicyclist to quantify the differences in vibration levels of different types of road surface.
